David SmithNon-Executive Chairman
A solicitor who has worked in corporate finance and the equity capital markets for over 30 years; considerable practical experience of corporate governance, regulatory and compliance issues; advised junior mining companies extensively throughout his career. Since January 2016 he has been a partner in Druces LLP, the Company’s solicitors.
Ben TurneyChief Executive Officer
An experienced participant in London's small cap financial markets, having previously worked as an investigative writer and shareholder advocate. He currently advises and works for a number of companies, both in the UK and North America, with a particular focus on the mining sector. Ben is responsible for our public relations.
Brett GristChief Operating Officer
Brett graduated in Mining Geology from the Royal School of Mines, and has spent more than 20 years in mineral exploration and development across Africa, the Middle East and Europe, covering base and precious metals, for companies including Reunion Mining and CASA Mining. He has played a leading role on a range of projects, including in advancing from early exploration through resource definition, feasibility, and into development. Brett is an FAusIMM with CP status.
Hillary GumboFounder & Executive Director
BSc (Geology) & MSc (Geophysics); 35yrs experience in mineral exploration in southern Africa; ex Reunion Mining, Cannister Resources & Rockover; owner of successful geophysical consulting company in Botswana which has worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Angola, Botswana & Zimbabwe.
Tiyapo (Tipps) NgwisanyiManaging Director (Kavango Minerals (Pty) Ltd)
Tipps began his career at the Botswana Department of Geological Survey. In 2010 he became Director of the Geological Survey and was then appointed as founding CEO of the Botswana Geoscience Institute in 2015, a position he held until he joined Kavango at the start of August. As MD of Kavango Minerals (Pty) Ltd, the Company’s local operating subsidiary in Botswana, Tipps is responsible for in-country commercial management and liaisons with all stakeholders.

Senior Geophysical Consultant with 28 years international mineral exploration in most commodities. Strong background in geology, structure, ore deposit models, project management & strategy. B.Sc. in Geophysics & M.Sc. in Geology, University of Toronto. Has consulted to more than 100 of Canada’s leading junior & major exploration / mining companies & governments on five continents.
Peter Wynter BeeNon-Executive Director
Peter Wynter Bee, is a non-executive director and is the Chairman of Moxico Resources, the majority owner and operator of the producing Mimbula Copper Project in Zambia. Peter is an experienced lawyer who has focused on financing and managing mining companies. Following a period as a General Counsel for KPMG, he became General Counsel and Director of Reunion Mining plc with 500 employees in Africa and the UK. He has a strong experience in joint venture negotiations, raised project finance and coordinated 15 companies within the Group until the takeover by Anglo-American plc. He has served as Director and Managing Director of ZincOx Resources plc. Peter has raised capital for the development of projects since 1990. Successful projects include the development of a gold mine in Zambia, a copper mine in Zimbabwe and the Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia prior to its takeover by Anglo-American.
Mike MolesConsultant
BSc (Geology) & BSoc Sci (African Studies); 30yrs experience in mineral exploration in southern Africa; formerly at Delta Gold, Reunion Mining & Lonmin; principal behind sale of coal assets to Riversdale in Mozambique, subsequently sold to Rio Tinto for US$4billion. He is the co-founder of Kavango Minerals.
